Forever Blessed by the Gift of Adoption
My name is Denise and I'm a stay-at-home mom and former not-for-profit development and public relations professional. My husband and I started the adoption process in May 2005 and our daughter joined the family in May 2006 making us a complete family of four.
We are learning Spanish together and enjoy educating others on international adoption and volunteer opportunites that assist Mayan children. As a family, we sponsor two children in the Mayan Highlands of Santa Elena, Guatemala. We also volunteer with Adopt-a-Village, Guatemala by selling fair-trade Mayan handicrafts to raise funds for school supplies and corn for widows and orphans.
We moved to Michiana in August 2007, from the Pacific Northwest and realized an active adoption network was non-existent. We decided to start one in September 2008, as an avenue for meeting friends and supporting others who are walking the same family-building path. As of August 2009, more than 100 families are involved in the organization and we grow weekly.
Thanks for visiting Adoptive Families of Michiana. Take a moment to fill out the "Contact Us" tab. Let me know what your interests are so we can get you involved in our Waiting Family Support Group or one of our seven play groups.
